What a weekend for West

For once, it was not the men’s First XV who took centre stage for West of Scotland at the weekend. Their fairly routine 38-9 victory over a disappointing Perthshire side at Burnbrae on Saturday (report here) was almost chip wrapper news as word was received of the West U18 side reaching the final of the Boy’s National Youth Cup (report here). They had defeated Hawick in the most closely contested of semi-finals at Volunteer Park.
On Sunday, West of Scotland Ladies defeated the previously unbeaten league leaders Garioch at Burnbrae. The final score of 36-29 was not a true reflection of the game (report here).
